Among a generation of young African photographers combining the sensibilities of an artist with the goals of an activist, Gyasi photographs primarily in the Jamestown district of Accra, Ghana. Using an iPhone and printing in vibrant colors, he reflects the contrasts of hope and need in the community around him, for which he established an organization called BoxedKids, seeking to provide educational opportunities to children in need.
